~~ Oren and the One-Eyed Wolf ~~
This 13-page side comic is set nebulously between the first and second volume of Oren’s Forge. In a dual narrative between Oren and the One-Eyed Wolf, the story delves into the past and provides insight into the wolf pack, as well as Oren’s motivations for starting the Hollow. You can read it on Patreon, or grab the PDF on my ko-fi shop!

Hey
blackteagan, if it wouldn't spoil too much, how long has Egg lived with them? This seems like an issue that should have come up before if it's been at least a full year.

Nothin’ spoilery about that! Egg was living outside the Hollow on the beach for a few seasons but her and Rask have only been *in* the Hollow for a few weeks at most, and Rask, presumably, spent most of that time convalescing in a cave and not out and about.
Some extra rambling as I finish my coffee:
I wrote this page last summer or so, but the social science behind it has been on my mind recently. Really boiled down, groups are more tolerant of a minority when there is only one of that minority. A singular minority is seen as powerless compared to the Majority group.
As soon as there are two or more of that minority, however, members of the Majority that may have been “tolerant” can become aggressive because now the minority is no longer singular and has someone (or someones) to conspire with. The Majority perceives that new group as a threat to status quo rather than harmless set decoration. There’s power in unity (all social creatures get that) and two predators is a lot more dangerous than one. Cotton doesn’t see the predators as part of “us” and rather a growing minority in a space he thought he had control of. (Lesson being: Don’t be like Cotton, control is an illusion and culture is fluid.)

I see two possabilities here:
1. Egg is genuinly not understanding what the rabbit is impluying. Egg is therefore precious, a darling and someone who must be accepted and trusted by all species as the wonderful gem she is.
2. Egg knows exactly what the rabbit is implying, and is going right around it and making every oppertunity to be a shining example of a good friend to all creatures. Egg is therefore precious, a darling and someone who must be accepted and trusted by all species as the wonderful gem she is.
Therefore, I conclude: Egg is an darling angel in badger form.
