I feel as if this COULD have been their natural design but Disney didn't want to scare the crap out of all their devoted fanbase, mostly children... so we got the trio we know & love today.
Could you imagine if the hyenas were portrayed to look as intimidating as this in the film? It probably would've been a darker movie by far... they just look so awesome!
