ANU-Ra sat atop a formless mountain, and was consumed by thought: a great scheme came to him, a great vision of illumination overtook his mind. ANU-Ra was joyed by this, by this creation of his mind. He thusly created out of his own thoughts and actions his Children: the Akhenanu (effectives of ANU). First came Air and Water, then Came Fire and Earth. He named them Osiris and Hathor, and Ptah and Bastet. He shared with them the primordial knowledge and revealed but a small piece of his vision to them: what they saw was their province. Osiris saw the skies and winds, Hathor saw the rains and rivers, Ptah saw the fires, and Bastet saw the earth and dust. All of them listened to the first verses of his vision, imitating those parts that they saw. So it was that the four primordial elements came to be, and so it was that the oldest of the Akhenanu were born.
