Commissioned full body piece for Mars! Gosh this one was a total pleasure to paint, I love doing lighting like this. Also being able to add a super simple background like this means I can create essentially full illustrations without putting tons of hours into an environment!

Oh, the colouring! Those riveting eyes! The underlighting on the grass!
A highly tentative remark on lighting, from a (very amateur) photographer's perspective: if this was a photograph, I'd opine that it looked like a backlit portrait with a fill-in flash that brightened and emphasised the subject, but lent a slight flatness to the colours. I've spent a long time (minutes, anyway) thinking about what I'd do about that, and I reckon it'd be a big diffuse light source to the upper right to cast relief across the body, especially the forms of muzzle and throat, and under the thighs.
But how, or even if, that translates into painted media, is a thing outside my ken.
Anyway. An astonishing, beautiful piece. If I were in Mars's place I'd be over the moon with it.
