Bastet is the mother of the Earth, she is the wife of Ptah: he is the Sun and She is the Moon. She nourishes all plant life. She and the other High Akhenanu are associated with the Sun Disk of ANU-Ra, she fought with her brothers and sisters against the evil and rebellious Apophis. She protects newborns, with her husband Ptah with whom She is the co-guardian of Jeretuw. The lower Akhenanu, save for Apophis, were born: Anubis; Sekhmet; Sobek; and Kebechet. She is the mother-earth.
