Y'all seem to be liking the comic so far (not that it's terribly far) and
Alectorfencer and I are slaving away at yet another page! I thought I'd post a WIP for everyone, so you can see the general process involved in each page. This is generally how we work. . . .
I storyboard out the page, first. . . set up the basics. The panel layout, the characters and 'action', and some general details on lighting, and backgrounds. (Original storyboard here, in all its' scribbly glory: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4770949 ).
After that, Alector takes my scribblings and works her magic on the background. For pages like this one, there was quite a bit of background work to be done, and a lot of characters to place in it, so Alector sent the linework for the buildings back to me before I did the final character artwork, so we were certain the characters worked with their surroundings.
Afterwards, Alector sets to coloring the backgrounds. It is very important that the background color come FIRST, because it sets the lighting for the characters.
The final step is character coloration, and any speech bubbles, which I handle. Blending our coloring styles has been interesting, and very challenging, but in the BEST of ways.
