Creature concept-- Brumal Scorpion(revamped)
(Another one revamped(and renamed))
Pretty much the ice opposite of the Empress Phoenix. Lizzy owned one named Chills.
--DATABANK--
A large scorpion species that holds magical ice powers.
1. Claws:
It's two large claws contained even stronger ice, both inside and outside. It allows the scorpion to break apart obstacles with minimal damage. It uses the claw to block strikes from attackers, rather than directly attacking back.
2. Jaw:
Oddly enough, despite being an arachnid, the Brumal Scorpion feeds entirely on plant tissues. In other word, it's a herbivorous. Like the Empress Phoenix, the Brumal Scorpion doesn't eat every day. And it's a picky eater as well - instead of eating every leaves off the trees, it only pick a few leaves to eat from each tree. Occasionally it chews up fallen logs, it's duo chelicerae helps it break apart the wood.
3. Stinger:
The standard scorpion stinger is replaced by an enchanted sharp icicle crystal. This ice "stinger" can project an ice shield that protects itself or others it's close with. In addition, it can fire an ice beam that immobilizes attackers, instantly extinguishes fire and lava, and hardening snow and ice to preventing them from loosening. It plays the major role of preventing avalanches in the Brumal Glen. In addition, the tail is lined with ice spikes, these randomly breaks off and regrow. They are used in fabrication of ice-based materials.
4. Ice cold body:
Scan shows every cells in its body contained both antifreeze and liquid nitrogen. In addition to allow this scorpion to become a freezing creature, yet preventing it from suffering from cold induced damages. These ice can resist even direct contact with molten magma, and has a strength comparable with densely compacted carbon, providing protection against the harsh terrains.
5. Habitat:
While it resides within the Brumal Glen, it travels into the Stalga Ice Field to raise their youngs, due to the abundant flat land with little slopes, those Ice Soarers are known to fear the scorpion. It's very sensitive towards snow stability. Once it detected presence of powder snow or potential avalanches, it would harden them to prevent potential disasters.
6. Life cycle:
Parents would stay in the Stalga Ice Field in order to breed. Once eggs are laid, the parents take turn to protect the eggs, newborns and juveniles until they are big enough to look for themselves. The nymphs also feeds on Snow berries and, ironically, snow.
7. Behavior:
The Brumal Scorpion is a peaceful creature. They are friendly towards travellers, and would avoid using actual violence to fight off threats. It even accept food offering from others. It's said that local tribes of ice casters are able to make efficient uses of the scorpion, thus utilizing magical powers from it.
Motivational quotes: You have ice magic, you can amplify it's power; If not, it still loves you.
