I really love the scales and how you contour them around and with the flow of the muscle tone. If you don't mind me asking, how exactly do you do these scales? It looks to me like you add a layer and paint scale shapes and then color them so they catch the light of the surrounding scene a bit moreso than the rest of the body.
Thank you! Actually I do them as you described but a bit in reverse. I do some flat brushstrokes in the shape of scales, add some softer shadow and light to create volumes, then contour them in some places (usually only focal points) and add sharper highlights, reflexes and stuff.
