Life has not been kind to this Pandaren priestess. A darkness has settled around her eyes, one that goes deeper than the black fur. Her brush strokes have sharpened, and somehow the black of her ink seems darker...
Finished this illustration of my Pandaren Shadow Priest (horde side), Meiwen.

Reading your artistic style, I feel that you like this character very much, therefore you have something to share. I'm interested to know your opinion, what is the power of Darkness for your heroine being a priestess? What is Light in Pandaren culture? My guesses lie closer to the Red Crane. And your?
Meiwen is a special case. She is a native of Pandaria, the daughter of a respected and well off family. A ceremonial priestess and scribe, like many of her ancestors. But then the outsiders came, and tore across the land bringing war and the rise of the once quiet Sha. Her family estate was destroyed, and in her grief and fury Meiwen allowed one of the dark spirits to possess her. If she could not have her family then she would have her vengeance. The darkness took her, and she awoke in the arms of an orc shaman, running across the torn landscape to bring this survivor to safety and help. Meiwen survived that day, but the darkness she let in never fully left her and is still present in her magic. She will struggle with the corruption for the rest of her days, though perhaps if she can make peace with the anger in her heart she could control it instead of the other way around.
And yeah I was that dweeb that had 14 characters all with fleshed out backstories. I hope to finish my portrait of Xephelia soon, a young unlikely Draenei hero. She was born with less ability to use the light and lived as a humble blacksmith, but one day was forced to raise the weapons she made to try to save her people and her home. Xephelia is also the size of an average Draenei man, which is very fun.
