honestly I feel kinda sad about all this... I don't condone stealing music but I don't wanna make him feel like hes completely blacklisted from the community... a lot of people make mistakes or take risks to try to be known or try to get people to like them or what not. Like I said before I would be pretty upset if some one stole my music. I guess I have to much empathy for my own good. but I'm sure hes feeling pretty upset/sorry right now. I'm not even sure what stuff he tried to post but I just worry about the effect of masses of people attacking the him and how that can effect his mental state.

In my opinion, harassment is not justified. Perhaps a simple statement as a reminder that he should consider the TOS, but nothing hateful. Harassment itself is against the TOS as well.

It's not really "stealing music," per se, but the remix spotlight this week sounds awfully familiar...

I feel that if it sounds different and your not trying to sell it then whatever not that your aloud to sell remixes/smashups or anything of the sort unless you have a contract or if the track is free terms. ^^

Well yeah, nobody's trying to sell anything. It just annoys me cause all that guy seems to do is just take MIDIs, not credit the original authors and then add a techno beat because he doesn't know how to map the MIDI's drum track to sampler channels (or even a soundfont) in FL Studio. I do covers using MIDIs for fun, but at least I credit the sequencer and... you know, make them sound good.

In this particular case, this guy tried to replicate my remix idea, did it poorly and used stolen MIDIs from VGMusic.com to make it. I sequenced my entire thing from scratch so the tunes are properly meshed together stylistically. This guy didn't even try. I don't really think that deserves a spotlight and I think people deserve to know what he does... but whatever, not my show.

I would like to note that there is stolen music places in this INTENTIONALLY with hopes some of you will keep your ears perked and nose to the ground to find originals, not only for the stolen music "featured" but also music you find elsewhere on this site.

I would also like to note that NOT EVERY ARTIST ON HERE HAS STOLEN WORK! Think of it like a detective exercise. The submission information will be changed within the next few days to give original composers/musicians/ideas credit.

I think some people do it without realizing it's theft. I've run int oa few who upload songs they like to share with friends. Other times, people just want to get their names out there and hope others notice how good "they" sound.

Theft doesn't mean they are a horrid person all the time, just that they need to work on their own stuff a bit more.
