Sunlight split the wavy blue curtain of the watery expanse in a dazzling slice of ocean artistry. It was the kind of place where any local or tourist could wade in and feel split off from the reality of their usual livelihoods. Worn sand softened their exploration and the line between the hot sun and cool surf was a siren's cry to many, driving most creatures into the waters for relaxation and fun.
Rygone was no exception. A water type through and through, he never felt more at home than within the depths of his element. His webbed hands molded the blue liquid to his will and his fins allowed him mastery over its space. So much so that to most of the beachgoers he was nothing more than a faded cerulean shadow half noticed between sunspotted blinks.
Racing towards the surface he exploded in an explosion of droplets as he twirled in the air before splashing down and hidden within a torrent of white foam. Flicking his powerful finned tail he dashed off before any others could see where he had gone.
Curling a webbed hand down, he skimmed it along the sand as he went, allowing the particulates of the grainy rocks to run along his claws with unfettered ease. It was no lie, the ocean, and its large bodies of untainted water were his home.
Fish dashed in panicked shimmers as he passed and he briefly considered snatching one for a quick meal...before his sights settled upon something far tastier.
Drifting in the water not but a few feet away was a pair of furry brown legs. Judging by their blissful attitude, their owner was unaware of the danger soon coming their way. Rygone smiled a fanged grin as he crouched low in the hanging tide, allowing the flow to wrap around him in a still blanket of ever subtle motion. He spread his hands out as his tail and legs prepared for the action to come.
Eyes narrowing, the hybrid could feel his heart thumping within his chest as he focused entirely on his prey.
He drifted...allowing the water to push him this way and that as his body narrowed down...tensing into one solid point of energy.
And then, with every fiber of his being working as one, he pounced!
EEEEEVVVVVEEEEEE!
The cry could be heard all up and down the coastline, every beachgoer's attention immediately fixating on the poor Eevee morph as they clambered out of the water in a distressed fit, scared but otherwise unharmed.
Rygone grinned from a distance away as he watched his timid prey cry out about there being "something in the water that had grabbed their leg", their words turning into confused babbles as they scanned the horizon trying to find the 'monster' that had interrupted their fun.
Submerging in a cloud of bubbles before the Eevee could pick them out, the victorious hunter swam off into cool waters unnoticed. Just another shade of blue among thousands more.
Sometimes as an anthro, you have to let your animal side out for a bit. Such as crouching down on all fours while you shake your fur dry, howling at the moon during the night hours (much to the annoyance of your neighbors), and satisfying your cravings for salad or steak. For predators, however, this ability to satisfy their urges in public can be a bit tricky. People tend to look at you funny if you pounce on random folk while they gather groceries or chase after joggers in the local park. That said, there are still rare opportunities where one can indulge in their hunting instinct...
