Production Status and Description:
The Corona-class Battlecruiser was designed for the underwhelmed Arcadian Planetary Defense Force during a time of civil and economic strife. The Arcadian had no space-faring Navy and required a starship to oversee their extraplanetary gains and defense so the hired the Intal-Corporation in a very early time. At the time, such a Battlecruiser as the Corona was a sight to behold. It's weapons were strong and it's shields were top notch for the Era. The Corona-Battlecruiser was given the Model-848 due to its exact length being 848 meters and would for a time operate as the backbone of the Arcadian Interplanetary Defense Force until the Joplin-class would be developed. It was an effective ship for defending planets and very well built and is so iconic, even after the New Age, is still built and sold to lesser Empires and factions as Picket, saturation and even Patrol ships due to their low price and heavy armaments. The only real issue of the vessel was its lack of Anti-Shield weaponry which still proves a problem even in the later Joplin and Dawson classes. Despite this, it sports one of the most effective communications arrays for a ship of is Era and proves valuable as a light, single ship-mission for Intelligence operations. Now onto the elephant in the room. At the time the Corona was considered a Battlecruiser but in this day and age it is more commonly used as a Cruiser or Light Destroyer however Arcadia has petitioned constantly to keep its designation of Battlecruiser. They say it gives it character.
