Today was June 23, Sonic the Hedgehog's birthday. Sonic has been spending the whole day running around the world, leaving invitations for all of his friends. He told them he was having a birthday party set up at his house and all of his friends were invited to come.
Sonic: Please, come to my birthday party. Here's your invitation. I'll be waiting and I have cake. It would mean a lot to me if you would come.
Many hours came and went since Sonic sent invitations to his friends for his birthday party. Later that night, Sonic was at home, waiting for his friends to come. However, he didn't see any of his friends show up to his party. He looks out the window in concern, wondering where they are.
Sonic: Strange. It's getting dark and the other haven't shown up yet. They're probably really late or something. Maybe I'll wait one more hour for them just to be sure.
After an hour of waiting, Sonic checked outside again and sighs. Suddenly, he saw a note at his door. When he opened the door and looked at it, he realized what happened. The note said that all of his friends had plans and they couldn't make it to his party. Sighing, Sonic put the note down on the table and held his head down sadly.
Sonic: I guess my friends couldn't make it. They've promised they would come.
Suddenly, Sonic heard a knock on the door. His eyes lit up and he runs to open it. When he opened the door however, to his surprise, it was Dr. Eggman.
Sonic: Eggman?
Eggman: Surprised, Sonic?
(Sonic sighs)
Sonic: Not really.
(Eggman raised an eyebrow)
Eggman: What's the matter?
Sonic: It's my friends. Today's my birthday and they couldn't make it to my party today.
Eggman was surprised. Sure, Sonic and his friends got in the way of his plans, but it wasn't like them to forget about Sonic, much less his birthday.
Eggman: Sonic?
Sonic: Yes?
Eggman: If it makes you feel any better, today's my birthday as well. I don't really have anyone to celebrate with me.
Sonic: What about your robots?
Eggman: Same as your friends, busy. Even Metal Sonic couldn't make it.
Sonic: Wow. Well, I heard Amy and Tails had some work to do with the Restoration, Shadow Rouge and Omega are really busy at G.U.N., Silver and Blaze have plans in their timeline, Knuckles is in the middle of looking for the Chaos Emeralds, The Chaotix have their hands full with a lot of cases and Cream and Cheese are helping Vanilla and Gemerl around town.
Eggman looked at Sonic sadly.
Eggman: I'm sorry to hear that.
Sonic: Yeah, I know.
Suddenly, a smile appeared on Sonic's face. He looks at Eggman.
Sonic: You know what? Why am I even sad? It's my birthday today. This isn't a time to be unhappy, it's a time to celebrate.
(Eggman smiled)
Eggman: Hey, Sonic. You mind if I join you?
Sonic: I don't see why not.
Later, Sonic and Eggman were sitting at a table. On top of it was a birthday cake in the shape of a chilidog. The candles on it were in the shape of the number 31.
Sonic and Eggman: Happy birthday to me.
And then, they blew out the candles.
Sonic: Well, this was actually a good birthday. Thanks for being here, Eggman.
Eggman: Ah, you would've done the same for me, Sonic.
The next day, Eggman was leaving.
Eggman: I'll see you around, Sonic.
Sonic: Later. Eggman.
(Eggman leaves)
Sonic was about to close the door when he noticed something. It was a present with a note attached to it.
Sonic: A present? For me?
(Sonic looks at the note)
Note: Dear Sonic the Hedgehog, we're sorry for not making it to your party. Hopefully, this gift will make up for it.
(Sonic smiles)
Sonic: Guess my friends did remember.
Sonic brought the present inside. When he opened it, the box revealed to be a golden Sonic statue with replicas of the Chaos Emeralds around it and a gold ring in the statue's right hand. There was also a message that said "Happy 31st Birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog" on the bottom of the statue.
Sonic: Wow. My friends really went all out on this statue. Thank you, everyone.
Happy birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog!
(Bonus scene)
Sonic looks at the gift from his friends.
Sonic: Well, at least it's better than the present I got from Eggman last year.
Last year, Sonic had his friends over on his 30th birthday when he heard a knock on the door. He looked outside to see that Eggman came by and left him a present. When Sonic opened the present, it was revealed to be an egg-shaped bomb. Sonic narrowed his eyes and throws the bomb at Eggman.
Eggman: Wait until Sonic gets the surprise of his life.
Suddenly, the bomb lands next to him. He looks at it and fear appeared in his eyes.
Eggman: Oh, my gears and starters.
And then, the bomb exploded, sending Eggman flying back to his base. Sonic chuckles and brushes his hands together.
Sonic: Sometimes he makes this too easy. Now then, I got some cake to eat.
Sonic walked inside, seeing all of his friends together.
All: Happy birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog!
Sonic: Thanks, guys.
THE END
Here's a story I made for the 31st anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. I was inspired by a comic that gave me the idea to make this. I still can't believe it's been 31 years. Happy anniversary, Sonic the Hedgehog!
