I ordered a "life-size" standee of Kathy Grrsn for placing by the door of the conference room for my upcoming talk on hyenas at Anthrocon. It arrived almost a week earlier than the estimate (happeeeee!) and other than an unfortunate crease where the package must have gotten dropped during shipping, looks adorable! I had some buyer's remorse right after I ordered it, but now that it's here, I'm glad I bought it because it looks so much more professional than a hand-lettered sign on an easel would have looked.
It has a triangular stand for the back, which gets attached with sticky strips, so I am going to hold off putting that together until we get to the convention center, because I want to transport it in its shipping box. Not sure what will happen afterwards.
I drew the art for this as one of the slides for the presentation, then went over it on the Wacom tablet wo smooth and thicken the lines, and added the rectangle in her hands for the title card.

I used dry mount presses to attach photos (or clippings) to high density cardboard. Sometimes you'll see framed photos with that sort of material. We mounted the photos with sheets of material called 'tissue', although it looked more like yellowish waxed paper. When it was heated, it smelled like it was beeswax! The press worked like a tee-shirt press (or a panini press!). It would melt the Foamcore, though. I've used that stuff with aerosol adhesive.
I don't think we'll be broadcast; I asked if they were recording things and they said only the parade and one or two of their "special" things. I'm not even sure if there will be a virtual AC with the real thing happening this year.
I'm hoping to get a recording of the panel to broadcast later; in any case StationChief and I will be putting something together with the slides and me doing a voice-over.
