This comes off as bittersweet. A vixen is with her great-grandmother, to whom she feels close. Then, the old vixen issues a warning about chasing dreams.

The third to the last paragraph has a lot of wisdom in it. I also had dreams when I was a kit. But most of them fell by the wayside as reality set in and I had to set my sights on things than might actually happen. I was lucky, as one door closed, I went through the next one that opened...and never looked back.

A nice family vignette. Also a good lesson in remembering that every person contains the essence of the life they have lived. The older they are, the more life there is inside. Sometimes it just takes a bit more work to get it to come out.
