Not really. 'Shi' and 'hir' are accepted terms within the furry fandom when referring to hermaphrodites, which, in this case the 'gender' of chakats.

I believe he's going by the English language, and not by terms "accepted" in the furry fandom.

Hehe, very nice spell checking there. Best not say anything about the speck in someones eye when you have a plank in your own. As a matter of fiction, there is always a given set of terms that can only be defined by the work of fiction itself, and must be defined only by the world in that fiction. To compare it to reality is to judge the temperature of a lake by the speed Wake Angels soar through a Nebula gasses... it just doesn't make sense. If you've read any of Goldfurs stories, you would see that there is a very clear distinction between His, her, hir and hys.

Not only are shi and hir commonly used in furry fandom for hermaphrodites, they are the cannon pronouns for chakats.

Actually, 'shi' and 'hir' are the hermaphroditic pronouns Bernard Doove decided to use when he invented Chakats.

I never gave thought to the concept of the first chakat until now. Having read (and re-read many times so far) your stories I find it hard to imagine a future without them having always been there, or a Federation that did not contain your vision within it.

I don't believe that I have seen any art of the first Chakat before Goldfur but shi certainly is a cute one.

Maybe I just misunderstood your comment, so I apologize if I did, but this is the first chakat as in, the first Chakat created by the Turners in the Chakat universe, not the first ever Chakat character. =)

I do know that Chakat_Blackwater, it is just that I have not seen any pics of Chakat Zigzag before.

Well shi was never named before either untill recently I think, which may be the reason no pictures were made before or at least released to the public. =)

They certainly look like honest, friendly people almost anyone could get along with.

Such a touching picture, paired with Kacey's wonderful artistic skills makes this image "full of win" to put it in internet terms.

Anyone with a Chakat character should have this among their favorites if you ask me...I certainly will be adding it to mine.

Honestly, I expected Charles to be a bit more geeky.. but then, parenthood, especially as challenging as this one, is said to mature people.

I wanted the Turners to look like ordinary unexceptional people.

I'm gonna have to redraw my image of Charles and Katherine now. I drew her as a person of African descent with curly, dark hair and dark skin. (And it was one of the first times I was able to get "Negro" proportions right, too.) In this image it looks like she might be South African in origin though. Oh well. I'll use this portrait for reference from now on.

You do realise now that we actually have the technology to do something like this, but not on the same level as the chakat universe yet, including non-canon as well. Times are changing and it may be a matter of time before someone does a Kickstarter on something like this, and twenty years ago when this was new, it was in the total realm of science fiction.

Do you hope to become Goldfur or a resemblance of fursona if people manage to be able to integrate the DNA or something similar like that?
