Thank you!^^ I don't ink the background before painting it, only leave the pencil lines, to make it seem further away and keep focus on what's closest.
I remember seeing it in cartoons and older comics and it just stuck with me as a cool effect before I learned about visually depicting a background-middleground-foreground later in school.
