PrideToons 2/4 - Lesbian
Perhaps my most self-indulgent project this year (so far), this little collection is meant to display characters from some of my favorite animated series and films who are either canonically some flavor of LGBT or who many fans - myself included - consider LGBT.
Using the "sunset" flag design because the original all-pink variant was made by a dipshit.
Couples are listed from left to right.
Vitani x Tiifu, The Lion King/Guard, Fanon - Vitani is a skirt-chaser. You know it, I know it, everyone with a sense of taste knows it. Now she just needs a lion gee eff to keep her attitude in check. I don't care for TLG or practically any of the new characters introduced in it, and I really dunno anything about Tiifu, but I've seen people ship these guys enough times that I've warmed up to the pairing. If my hunch about Tiifu is correct, their dynamic is one of those "opposites attract" deals, which often doesn't work out IRL but is still a cute relationship trope. I like to think Vitani may be a tough-guy butch king, but she's putty in her girl's paws.
April Spink x Miriam Forcible, Coraline, Canon - Neil Gaiman has gone on record multiple times before to say that yes, Spink and Forcible are lesbians, and yes, they live together because they're either dating or married. I love it; I don't think there's nearly enough appreciation for older LGBT people IRL, let alone in fiction. I guess everyone ignores these GILFs because old lesbians living domestic lifestyles aren't as consumable by The Hornies as young anime waifus going all hentai on each other. Hug your local elderly lesbian today (or help her wife fix the sink while her wifey's away.)
Lyra Heartstring x Bonbon/Sweetie Drops, MLP: FIM, Canon - Yes, these two are canon, believe it or don't! During one of the last episodes of the series' run, we not only see these two propose to each other, but we even see a newspaper clipping of their wedding. They're not the only canon lesbians in the series - remember Scootaloo's aunts? - but they're my favorite, and also indicative of something special. These two were strictly background characters before bronies went bonkers for a while in the 2010s, but through fan labor and staff pandering, they not only evolved personalities, but a cute little relationship. Horse Men are good sometimes.
