May i introduce Rose, a redheaded, now to be, catgirl. One night in a park, she rejected the wrong wizard on her way home from a fancy party. Her arrogant behavior was a lot to eat for the wizard, but her friends piercing comments were to much to swallow. He cursed them and gave Rose a more fitting look for her pretentious character. Though she got away a lot better, as her friend was used to get enough energy for the black magic. From now on Roses friend adorns the local fountain as an additional statue. Rose not only lost a friend this night, but also a part of her humanity (or did the wizard just brought her inner self out?). You can see her watching herself in a tiny mirror at home for the first time.

In my universe magic always needs a source of power. Some "natural" curses, like lycanthropy, use natural energy (like moonlight) to work. Wizards (which are pretty rare in this universe) use black magic. This means they drain the energy from anything living (mostly humans, cause they have a lot of energy) and transfer it into magic. Once all the energy of something living is drained, it turns into stone (the most dead material existing).
