When the plague was rummaging through the city, the secluded herbalist poured all of their potion creating skills into stopping it. They were magical potions, and making them took a toll on the herbalist, leaving them almost blind in the aftermath of the retreating disease. They were rewarded for their efforts, too, by citizens shunning them out for a crime of witchery, and so they left for the woods, with a betrayal in their heart crystallizing into a bitter distrust
