My first 2 months on my own wasn't easy. Nervous all the time, not sure what I'm doing here and there. Made it through all right. One time I did got lost and that was a lucky because it was so early in the morning that no one was on my bus, but I was able to manage to get back on track when I called the union and told me what to do.
For the last month, I was driving mostly express buses. I was on the extra list and puts me on stand-by whenever someone calls out or no one was available to cover the run. Mostly I'm doing "Senior's runs." Why we called them senior runs? These runs are mostly senior guys can pick them. Unlike me, there's no way I can touch these runs for maybe years depends on what kind of runs. Some runs are so high seniority, even the guys who worked on the job for 18 years still can't even touch them. Now I'm off the extra list and doing work runs which is pretty neat for the summer. At least it's not overnight work otherwise I would having lots of sleeping issues. In the future, I will pick express runs if possible, these runs in my opinion, are the best! Express runs are mostly runs during morning and evening rush hours only about 2 to 3 trips the most. How can you say no to that?
It's been very tiring lately, driving a bus in such weird schedules getting up super early in the morning and getting off late and repeat. As my co-workers told me, get much shut eye as possible whenever you can. Since I'm working long hours, you need the energy to stay focus on the road.
