How does Maji take modularity? He very much likes it. When he loses his head, he believes that it relaxes him and clears his mind. Moreover, he believes that detaching his head will relieve his headaches, but that one's not true. Unfortunately, headaches last for detached heads in his modular world. But, it helps for him to give his head to someone else to stroke it, while he has a headache.
Speaking of Maji's world, he, Reptu, and their friends live in a civilized, futuristic anthropomorphic animal society. Thus, detaching his head in the more primitive, uncivilized times is dangerous, because showing off his meaty stumps will tempt predators to eat his body. It used to be bad for prey like him. But now that's all gone, and he can detach his head wherever and whenever he wants.

Haha, yep, I can see that.
Aw, thanks Ghosty. Admittedly, I know that predator/prey thing is similar to Zootopia, but that's not the main idea of my world. It takes more of a backseat. I'd say the biggest factor is how some species have abilities while others don't, like fish can breathe water, while birds can fly.
