I have NO clue how to get those brush-pen like lines with the pen tool. Any tips/links to tutorials?

Well it's hard to explain, just look to the pen settings at the top of the page and kind of mess around with pen tool, add anchor points, move anchor points, convert anchor point tool, and go to brush tool press enter to brush (with pen pressure, or not). In Photoshop that is. Make sure to learn the keyboard shortcut keys that are important, and makes it easier with work.
