Some color practice I did today with water-kitty-dog-fish-girl~
Wanted something vibrant with lots of emphasis on the lighting, aaand pretty happy with the result, I think xd
Also for some reason now I had to google whether or not Vaporeon even had fur. I've always imagined them to
have some... otter-like fur, or just some very short fur. Also it's a kitty-doggy, how can I not give that floof.
Doesn't matter too much, I made the tail as shiny and non-fur-like as possible, but I really wanted to justify
the little bit floof on the chest xd

Welll it depends on how far I wanna go with each pic. Sometimes I just want the sketch and don't even think about colors, where in this case for example it was all about the composition, the lighting and colors.
So leaving this one just as a sketch wouldn't make any sense where in other cases it wouldn't make sense to go all out for colors when they are not necessarily needed and I might take that time and put it toward something more important.

Yeah, I don't know if there was ever any explanation or detail in any of the games or shows that confirmed or denied any of that. The main games certainly do not have the graphics to know for sure, and just about nothing 3rd party that would have enough detail had a Vaporeon in it. Shame Vaporeon wasn't in the Detective Pikachu movie since then it would have been obvious.
I always assumed that since it's supposed to be based on a fish, especially with that tail, and the whole being able to move fast in water and having fin-ears that it either had smooth skin or scales like a fish instead of fur.
