a lot of crappier shows in the 80s too a rock band route. maybe it was because half the members would have been chipmonks and that might have pissed off the Bagdasarian guys.

No episode like that because Disney is a wimp and caves in to Parent groups who believe Heavy Metal music is the tool of the Devil, or something like that... Actually, it probably is, but as most Disney execs have probably sold their souls to the Devil long ago, that would't be a problem in itself. Any corporation would sell economy class one-way trips to Hell if they thought they'd make a profit. So it must be the fear of losing money that drives them to being wishy-washy and spineless.
