I know a lot of bondage and peril artists, and this is consistently one of the biggest shared annoyances among whom I've spoken to.
Please refrain from asking in worried tones if characters are gonna be okay. Please don't share your rescue fantasies in the comments. Most of us bondage artists do not like it.
The whole point of what many of us draw is to show a perilous situation to which there is no escape. That is what's hot to us, at least to those I've spoken to. I cannot stress how much of a mood killer it is to get a comment like that. I always roll my eyes.
If I draw myself becoming a slave, or being put in a nonconsensual or dubious consensual situation, I'm drawing that because the fantasy of that happening to me is hot. The "rescue" is sort of an interruption to the whole point. If you have a fetish for rescue, that's great. You can even have those thoughts about my own work. If you get off to imagining scenarios in how I get saved, that's great. I'm glad I can do that for you.
Just please refrain from commenting those sorts of fantasies. It's sort of like if you went into the comment section of a piece where two gay men were having sex and writing "I bet he would look so hot fucking a girl." Like, I'm glad you have that fantasy but it's kinda weird posting that on a space for gay men.
In short, think whatever you'd like about my art. Imagine whatever scenario you'd enjoy. Just know comments that go against the whole mood I'm trying to establish can be annoying. And please don't get too distressed about what's happening to my characters. This is all imagination, and I'm drawing it because it's fun :3 If you see me drawing Ollie in a horrible situation and that has you distressed, just remember I, as Ollie, get personal enjoyment from this.
Remember this is all fantasy, keep things kind, and try not to work against what the artist is trying to establish.
This isn't a big deal at all, and I'm not trying to call anyone out specifically. I just wanna make people aware artists feel this way.

This is very interesting and I'm glad you're putting it out there. As a bondage lover, I personally do like to imagine my characters eventually escaping, BUT that's not what everyone is into and, more importantly, that's irrelevant. If an image is a "snapshot," of moment in time, it's irrelevant to ask about some hypothetical future or past. It's like seeing a kinky image of someone chopping a tree naked and going "I hope they eat a good breakfast tomorrow." Maybe they will, maybe they won't, but that's not the focus of the image. I'm really glad you're articulating this. It makes me think on a broader level it's important to let the focus BE on what is being focused ON. If someone is depicted as bound and gagged, maybe they will escape and maybe they won't, but the FOCUS is on the peril and that is what should be focused on, unless the artist/commissioner indicates otherwise.
A-fucking-men. It’s also distracting and frustrating for viewers who enjoy similar themes in the artwork but are confronted either in the comments or chat (or wherever) with the same sort of remarks.
As a commissioner/viewer/enjoyer of art, it’s like being in a gallery of bound models and someone poking me in the arm to ask if someone will rescue or untie them. Like, I’m here for the bondage exhibit, my guy, and if they aren’t bound then there’s no such exhibit.

been a long time since i last saw this before the move and i can majorly understand the one side of it and no offence about that whole side but a lot of the time that side just doesn't understand how the other side feels about it and the feelings they sometimes get like for instance the feeling something inside you sinks hits rock bottom in your chest, the frustration of being unable to say what you really wanna say and are forced to improvise while still saying something nice, it's so frustrating some times. plus the other thing being just because the side which i'm also on has different opinions and thoughts about things doesn't give a right to block someone you should just compromise with them instead of making them feel indifferent so please just keep that in mind while your enjoying Peril
No one is making you comment on anyone’s art. No one is forcing you to say anything. If you don’t like something someone has posted, you don’t have to interact. People find it really annoying.
I understand that peril might make you feel uncomfortable. I am not saying that your feelings are wrong. But it’s not my responsibility to cater everything I post to your preferences. It’s not anyone’s responsibility.
