MMMustang!
Picture taken in 1983, recently unearthed.
After all, man does not live by Mercedes alone, blasphemous as it may sound...
I'm the only one in my family who will have anything to do with Fords (explanation on request). I suspect the fact that Carroll Shelby was a childhood hero has something to do with it...

It goes back to my parent's honeymoon in 1955. They drove a brand new Ford coupe cross country from Philadelphia to San Francisco. Around St. Louis, the oil pressure idiot light came on. They drove to a dealer, who assured them the problem was a faulty sensor. In Amarillo, Texas, in the middle of nowhere, the engine seized up from a bad oil pump. They were stuck in this hick town for a week until Ford sent a replacement engine (under warranty). My parents never bought another Ford... ;)
My parents moved cross-country from Denver to Old Saybrook in '65. The Chevy station wagon they were using crapped out in Hannibal, Missouri, and they were stuck there for a few days until they resolved the situation. (I can't recall how.) But ever afterward, my mother in particular had a grudge against Hannibal, Missouri.
My brother bought a brand-new 1984 Ford Escort Wagon in November of 1983. 3/4 of a mile from the dealership, the engine overheated due to a faulty sand-casting hole in the water pump. That one car left him stranded by the side of the road more times in three years than all the rest of the cars he ever owned -- combined!
And yet he's owned two Ford Ranger pickups in sequence, the first with 190,000 miles (over a light-second) and the second is now over 65,000.

Ghod, Amarillo in that time would have been pretty fragging boring. Was stuck just outside of Ft Knox for 3 days due to car issues at one time in the 80s - that was pure hell. I've had 2 Fords 1987 T Bird - good car other than the damn weak Ford front suspension - tires would feather badly - Ford dealer said everything was in spec - yeah the specs were out of spec for over 30 years with that design. Had a 91 Mustang 5 L hatchback. That had the tire wear issue along with a bad alternator - blew up car batteries 3 times - damn dealer said there wasn't anything wrong. It finally blew one up by the dealership, I limped it in and blocked the service entry for oil changes that morning. I refused to move till they fixed the damn thing. Had a whole bunch of North Dallas Yuppies all pissed off over me blocking the entry and had the dealer pissed about me loudly complaining they didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it came to electrical issues with their cars. Haven't bothered with a Ford since then. GMC pick up - Nissan Pick Up Kia Soul and currently a Kia Optima. All been good - some issues from time to time but all taken care of promptly by dealers.
Mmmhmmm. Fan of airships myself. Lived very close to University of Texas Dallas - got a library card from their library in 6th grade. Loved the special collection dealing with Aviation https://library.utdallas.edu/specia.....ation-archive/ They have Vice Admiral Rosendahl collection of artifacts and papers dealing with the US Navy airship program. Heh, finished up my undergrad degree there too, spent a lot of time in that Library - actually got to meet General Doolittle when he donated his papers and artifacts to the collection - snuck into the reception - free wine and cheese
Ever see when someone puts a 60s Mustang body on a Jeep frame? Had a buddy who did that in High School. Seems to be a semi popular conversion in some areas. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4NYf2DyhSWQ/.....resdefault.jpg Now that minigun screams TempCorps...
A genuine Mustang Rust-A-Mobile. I used to own a '66 sedan style, driving downhill with a tail wind I could get to almost 90 MPH! 145 KPh sure sounds faster though. It started rusting out around the taillights about a week before I was transported to the PI.
"When do these cars rust?"
"Yep."

I used to put this on the tape deck when driving to work in the mornng:

And that is why most of them were off the road even then. Most cars were horrible rust buckets no matter the brand up until the mid 1990's, they only had to last until the end of the warranty as far as they were concerned. Now it isn't uncommon to see cars from the late 90's and 2000's being sold with 300,000 miles and still going strong. My 1995 Mustang went to the junk yard with over 200,000 miles and not a speck of rust. Of course it needed it's second head gasket and the entire drive line was wore out plus the passenger side was wrecked, It was time to go.
Another Ford guy, too? Great minds DO think alike!
My first car was a '51 Studebaker, bought for me by my great step-dad, but the first car I bought myself was a '52 Ford two-door..., kind of ratty but it got me from San Diego to Davis, California, and through 4 years of university and 6 months of work before I went into the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
The Ford that got away, though, was a '65 Shelby GT350 that I saw used in '67-68..., I think it was less than $3,000..., but that was $3,000 more than I had at that time AND I was borrowing money to finish my education. Oh, well!

Heh....I could give you stories about my mother's Peugeot 504 station wagon.

Nah....ours' was much worse. The accelerator stuck (with the car in reverse) with my mother and grandmother in the vehicle. That was just one of the many issues we had with it.
To tell you the truth, I don't think it was a bad car, it's just that the previous owner did not take care of it.

You and my sister Debbie would get along very well. She loves Ford's as well. She's just not a nice person to me she idolizes trump and she gets mad at me because I don't capitalize his name giggles. You look quite handsome next to your car πππππππ
Well that's ok you still look awesome to me. My sister is 38 but i still love her. she had a mustang mach1 she told me to say that to you. She has since sold it because she was in an accident in it, but the police report said it was not her fault the trash truck side swiped her and did around 4500$ worth of damage. she got it fixed and sold it to someone in Kansas.
I miss my 1964.5 Convertible Pony car, pea soup green with a cream interior., I called it 'Sweet Pea'. Loved that car. Sister 'borrowed' it when I was out of town over a weekend and got drunk and wrapped it around a telephone pole at speed . She had minor scrapes, car was totaled.
