Hello everyone. This week I haven't been drawing mainly because I was pretty sick. Now I'm considerably better, almost perfect, and last two days I decided to try this out!
As you have probably noticed already, this is a 3D model of my dragon OC Goldigony (check a reference here). I took a Blender basic course a couple of months ago and I finally decided to put in practice a lot of things that I learned. I decided to make the model simple, without complicated and mostly destructive techniques because it really gives me a headache and puts my PC pretty slow. I know, there are still things in the model that could be improved considerably, but anyways I feel pretty proud of what I was able to do with a limited knowledge in 3D modeling in just a couple of days. You can be 100% sure that this process was absolutely fun and amazing to do, and even more when the final renders were ready. I'm sure that I will model more things in the future, because I surely loved the process and working on 3D is really useful for 2D artists' learning too. I hope you like if I do more 3D models in the future, tell me your opinions about that!
By the way, apart of the model itself which was of course an important part, I put a lot of attention to the materials, making them look smooth and with the right colors, adding a simple but nice background and good lights to the scene. To complete the process I used the Cycles engine for the best possible render result, a high resolution and a high sample rate to make it... Just perfect, if it was possible. The two renders (front and back) took a total of 38 minutes to process in my PC if you're wondering.

Goldigony in 3D! Congratulations, Sweetie! You must be very proud to see how your OC looks in both your traditional style and this beautifully-rendered, 3D model.
Do you think you may try to make 3D models for your other characters? Maybe something for the beloved 'Padded Princess of the Foals', or 'Flashy Nappy'? You also have your OC family that could look quite nice in this style. :)

One of the first things that came to my mind when I saw this is how the 2D art for Goldigony is how she would have appeared in 'Friendship is Magic' with the 3D model, shown here, being her G5 / 'New Generation version of her lovable self.

I hope I can become far more frequent in keeping up with your work, Sweetie. I have not commented on anything in over three weeks due to story commissions and real life requirements. I really need to get better in managing my time so it is far better balanced.

Thanks for trying to catch up my work Yosh. That's a really kind gesture from your part. I know life is treating you rough recently, so don't worry at all.
Yes, I felt really proud when I was able to finish up this model, especially when I used the right setup for a better render quality using the render engine Cycles, which uses ray tracing. I even made a short animation of her walking and a really really quick demo of her walking and flying in Unity like in a videogame, but believe me, all of that requires a lot of work.
I probably should try making Sparkly Emerald, because one of the most interesting things in Blender is to play with light effects and emission materials, it should look really amazing with his glowing parts. Modeling 3D ponies is a bit more challenging, not impossible, but quiet complicated and I still need to find a way to do that better.
