In the Seasonal Songbird sequence, just in time for summer, we finally have "Wavebird." My lovely Songbird is visiting a tropical paradise and obviously enjoying every minute of it. I think we all wish we were having as much fun as she is 😄
(The real Songbird and I are both currently under quarantine, both sick with Covid. Yes, we've both been vaccinated, but that only keeps you out of the hospital, and doesn't exactly stop you from getting sick. As I type this, I'm woozy and headachey, and she has a headache and nasty cough, nearly a week running now.)

I first started the lineart of this over two years ago, in May 2020, and I've worked on it on-and-off for ages ever since. The final drawing is some of the best shading I've ever done. This has an insane amount of detail, and the real Songbird has been begging me to finish it over the last few years, so now it's finally done, and I love how happy she looks.
As usual, this is 100% vector art, drawn in CorelDRAW 2019, with an ordinary mouse, not a tablet. I don't know how many hours it has in it, but it's gotta be approaching 100 by this point. Totally worth it to make my wife look this gorgeous, too 😘 And hands off, she's mine 😋

It’s about a dozen layers, maybe five thousand objects total, and lots of use (abuse?) of PowerClip. There’s gradients, to be sure, and transparency, but a lot of “live effects” too: A lot of the shapes have a blur applied to soften their edges in some way. The waves arguably have the most shapes, since those aren’t pattern fills: They’re all PowerClips with real objects inside, and every little water droplet is an independent shape. I have at least half a dozen layers dedicated to just water, which is a lot considering that the main character is only two layers total 😅
But yeah, there’s a lot going on here. Turned out decent, though, I think.
