(I'm calling this a three quarter because it has no lower jaw, if it cut off just below the eyes I would call it a half.)
A friend of mine requested an embroidered skull mask for Rennaissance Faire, so I found a great full face skull mask design on emblibrary.com. Then she decided she wanted it without a lower jaw, so I had to edit it in Embird and came up with this. So yeah, this is a full embroidered design, stitched on felt and then cut out. I installed grommets and made an elastic cord. The nose is cut out along the bottom two thirds or so so its a bit three dimensional. I'm not super happy with the fit; I didn't alter the size of the mask or anything its just a little hard to see through. I found its actually more comfortable, and you can see through the eye holes better, if you wear it over glasses. My friend wears glasses so that will be fine.
I bought a whole bunch of the mask designs on emblibrary so I will be doing many of these. They won't be cheap though as they take hours to stitch out and of course take a lot of thread. I'm thinking the $50 dollar range if not higher.
Stitched on a Baby Lock Professional Plus. Everyone thank Lucy for modeling for us. :)

Yeah...this one took almost 2 hours, and that's without the lower jaw...I did a gryphon one for Faire (also without a lower jaw) a few weeks ago and I think that took more than 2 hours. But its very textured, with feathers and everything. They're very nice masks in person though, I hope to sell them at craft fairs if not online.
