Hey everyone! Did you know I've been working on a second game project? Well I have. It's a side-scrolling shoot-em-up featuring my novice superheroine, Quantum Knight, and you can download and play the first level of it (No bossfight yet. That's the next thing on the agenda) right now:
Download: https://mega.nz/file/rw9VyKgK#nxhPx.....xMtvmPBQInT744
In addition, I want to announce that I am launching a second Patreon page for this project. Up until now progress for this one has been tracked on the same page as Texas in Trouble, but the plan has always been to split this project off into its own page once it's capable of standing on its own. Which it now is! So if you like this project and want to support it instead of (or in addition to) the Texas project, you can do so right here (It's cheaper):
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SquashedFlatSecondary
This project has taken far longer than I expected it too at the start. This was going to be a smaller, secondary project, only being worked on two days of the week rather than three, and somewhat spiralled out from there. With all the groundwork and systems laid I'm still fairly confident that updates will be more frequent on this than on Texas in Trouble, though it's definitely the simpler of the two games. It also comes with the ability to toggle gas/fart content on and off, so check out the options screen for that!
Controls:
Arrow Keys: Movement
X: Select/Shield
Z: Back/Shoot
C: Special Attack
As always, let me know if there are any issues! I'm *fairly* confident in the stability of this, but there's always things I don't catch. For now, I hope you all enjoy the new project and look fondly towards what is to come!

Very interesting so far. One thing I noticed is that the shot frequency of the shotgun pig wildly fluctuates, sometimes getting 2-3 shots off in rapid succession, not sure if that is intended.
I also think it's intriguing how she turns vertical both when shielding and backing off, never seen a 2D side scrolling shooter where your action determines your hitbox. I feel like this could be used very well to create scenarios where either dodging or shielding is preferred, or you shield in order TO dodge.

Hmmm, that shouldn't be happening... The pigs should fire intermittently, as they won't shoot if you're shooting at them, but they should need to complete their shotgun pump before firing again.
And yeah, wasn't sure how that'd work, but it kinda does? I'll need to play around with that horizontal/vertical aspect in future levels. Thanks!

I can't seem to replicate it, but maybe if they shoot and you fire a single bullet back, the instant of them being in cover skips the reload animation? It's pretty rare, so not a big deal honestly.
Also, am I correct in that the small enemies only have a single fetish animation each this time, which triggers when they bring you down with them? I feel like that is a good change compared to Texas in Trouble, each foe having their own Game Over gives them more personality and depth, and not having like 6 animations per enemy should also speed up the progress a lot.

Im looking forward to it, but may i ask for a small change? Could you maybe do something to change the buttons? ZXC are really annoying since european keyboards have Y and Z switched so i always have to use both hands for using shooting and shield good which really is annoying and really hard to play since i cant move then.
Im looking forward to the game

holy shit dude, this is incredible, great work!
i have a few game design criticisms if you’re open to em:
1. not enough i-frames after a hit taken, very easy to get stunlocked
2. shotgun enemies can sometimes fire rapidly, not sure if intended but makes it impossible to kill them, with the only option being to block and pray
3. rocket launcher is literally impossible to avoid, heli charge might be too, i didnt test it because i was too busy watching that bad end hehe
4. pressing back changes your hurtboxes dramatically in a single frame, which means backing up to avoid something will often get you instantly hit by projectiles above or below, might be a good idea to not have the character stand completely upright
that’s it, thank you for reading and thank you for the amazing content!

Those darn shotgun pigs have been causing me no end of trouble...
But yes! All very fair points. I do need to look into more I-frames for sure, though the hurtboxes I'm not sure on. I would like to play with that concept later. Like having moves that you can avoid using that hurtbox switch. As to the rocket launcher, you can shoot the missiles (or moo-siles, if you will). The grab you just need to get out of the way, though only the cow's hand is a hitbox there.
Thanks!

I just played the demo and I'm already in love with this universe, and I love the character designs too~! the whole cyberpunk city aesthetic with big beautiful women with guns is always a win~ I can't wait to see more of this amazing project from you! keep up the good work~
This is looking good so far! I would recommend making the bullets bigger, they're kinda easy to miss. Also maybe decrease the cooldown on the charge, it's a little long.
I've gotten 4 bad ends so far. getting crushed by the cow, used as a seat by the sheep, rubbed on the pig's butt, and just getting shot down. are there any more in this build?
