I won’t be posting a ton this month since I’m focusing on Artfight, but I wanted to do a cute scene with my monkie boi since this idea would not leave me alone. Like Sun Wukong, Xuesong is a part of a large troop of monkeys, Japanese macaques to be specific. They spend a fair amount of time with them, typically for grooming sessions or just to chill out with them and make sure they’re okay. Then there’s times where they’ll help out and babysit the youngest monkeys to allow the parents some peace.

Here, they’re taking a pair of siblings out on a hike and during it, it snows. Drawing them on all fours was a bit difficult since they don’t have very digitigrade legs, but since they are still a monkey, it made sense to have them giving a piggyback ride similar to how actual monkeys do.
