I guess he could be displayed in Hyrule castle town? That's where most people would be able to admire his golden body!
As to who would get this priviledge... I dunno. Maybe it should be on a roll every week? So everyone can get this chance? As long as they prove themselves trustworthy, though I'm pretty sure the spell turning him to gold made sure nobody would be able to scar this body.

Maybe once he got turned into gold, his power as the chosen one was taken back by the Goddess to be sent as the new hero?
After all, we saw in Wind Waker that the power of the hero isn't totally hereditary since Toon Link wasn't a descendant of the hero (he didn't exist in this timeline after Ganondorf's defeat) so there is clearly wiggle room for that.
... Especially if like me, you headcanon that every chosen hero end up turned into a statue once their deeds are done as... A way to celebrate their heroism through the ages.
