The bigger of the two is a proxy for the fearsome and very rare Overseer, the strongest unit the Martians can field. The actual kit is made of resin and to be frank, was massively overpriced at retail (even more so on the aftermarket) and the kit itself was *extremely* poor. Warped legs and pieces were extremely common, requiring heavy use of tools like dremels and heating guns to make it look decent. This however is a different story. Seen here is Pegasus 1/144 War of the Worlds (2005) Tripod. This model is, okay. Its plastic isn't the best (it feels a bit strange, almost low quality) with quite a few warped parts like the legs and it massively struggles with holding itself together and standing under its own weight (seen here finally cooperating with the help of a Games Workshop large base).
On its base is an All Quiet on the Martian Front Scout Tripod. One of the smaller tripod variants, I thought it would be nice to show off and get a sense of scale. The Overseer massively standing over it.

When you mentioned the scale, kind of makes me wonder if building 1/1 scale replica would be possible?
I do like the 2005 War of the Worlds, but the '50s version is my preferred one. Usually in those types of movies, a scientist would create some high-tech weapon to take them out! Instead, George Pal lets you think that humanity is truly doomed.
