It was the only background that would fit perfectly with the carts. But it could be a backwards level.

Well, recently in MK Tour they introduced Reverse racing, where they modified certain tracks to be driven around on the other way around. It gives a really cool spin on the otherwise same experience!

They are commonly referred to as ''R tracks''. There is also a ''T'' variant of certain tracks, with T standing for ''Tilted'', or ''Trick''. Sometimes they combine R and T gimmicks to make ''RT'' tracks.

Are any of those tracks in the Booster Course Passes they're adding to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? (That game has my favorite Mario soundtrack of all the Mario soundtracks, although my absolute favorite video game music comes from Sonic the Hedgehog.)
