"Dear Family! Hi to Mom, Dad, Ellaine, Vander, Bess, Uriah, Olen, Sarah... you're the best parents and brothers and sisters anyone could ask for! Well... remember when I joked that I could hack the Mercenary's Guild obelisks and make their chevron display a smiley face? Well, I did it! But instead of a happy face, I asked for a job! And guess who's just become the Guild's youngest inductee? THIS GIRL! Okay, so there was a lot more to it.. this guy in the lobby tried to cut my head off with a sword but it was cool, it was just a test! I was way too fast for him! Got around behind him and had a dagger (okay, it was just a banana, but when I get armed, it'll be real! A real knife I mean, not a real-you know what I mean!) He said I was exceptionally fast and coordinated! Few training weeks later and I'm wearing the silksteel! I gotta tell you, this thing looks GREAT on me! Protects like a stack of phonebooks, breathes like wind through a fence! Better still, they made me a pair of skates based on the famous Guild boots! They're enchanted too! I could go on a bed of gravel and I'd still slide across it like a pat of butter on hot teflon! OOOH! I forgot to mention! I got to drive one of their ATAV's! The engine's got enough energy potential to fire a pound of bacon to the asteroid belt! So yeah, that's where I've been this past month! I'm sorry I was vague before, but I didn't want to get your hopes up! I've already been placed in a squad too! Epsilon Company, Squad 02! The squad leader is this really sweet woman named Jen Denjeigo, our Support is a 'Neather named Benjamin Staffel, we have a Tengu named Tseida, a really slick halfer named Amos and he's our medic! Got a few others, but the one that's REALLY got my attention is Aries Passadar! The girl who was in the Masters Games a couple years ago! She's amazing! Just got placed into Combat Specialization and the red looks really striking on her! Anyway, I hope the letter gets to you guys quick! We're about to listen to that new radio show: The Phantom of Blackwind! Love you all so much!"
