cheerie is a happy guy, sure he gets down but mostly hes just so chipper!
as a kid his parents worried about his colours, you see grifmyths kinda work on colours, they love bright or colourful partners and with cheeries being so dull, to combat this they always encouraged him to be friendly and noticed by others.
needless to say he took the advice and cranked it up to 20!
he jumped into acting classes and always went (and often made) staring rolls and was good at it, it didnt take long for him to be 'found' and started acting in small jobs on some shows and only took a year for him to get main rolls.
the place he lived is a bit everythingphobic, he kinda hid his bisexuality but after getting a few good years into his job he decided to try and hit/act on the gay curiosity he had, ladies where easy to come by and something he was 'allowed' to do but fellas? now was the time, sadly he quickly realized how awkward and difficult it was, hed get flirty but never managed to anything more.
on one tv shooting on a local street he spyed tracy, as luck would have it they needed some one to fill a small roll and had issues finding someone, cheerie smiled and grabbed him from the crowd (being so tall and odd looking it was easy) after some back and forth it was agreed he would play the part, que awkward flirts and tracy for once reciprocated it it kinda snarky manor at first but after seeing how well people liked the weird shark boy he was invited back, once they had to spend more time together they got to know one another, both confided in each other and after a long while they decided to go out!

a separate comment, I had a suggestive thought. I forgot if you mentioned if you had a type of Zecon or not, but Cherri here with the fun name, reminded me of it as you had mentioned the coloring. Are Zecon's able to see on a higher spectrum like some birds? I assume no from this description, though what if one of your variants of the Zecons did. Like how some birds look dark and dull to us, but to birds they are very shiny, neon, and extremely colorful.
If you have not done that already, I think it would be a fun approach to a character in the future, like everyone didn't like them, but a Zecon variant you have can see the colors, and they form a bond. If that makes sense, but I don't remember if you have a character like that or not.
