And yet the thing that gave me the biggest fetish/puberty awakenings were the Animorph books (at least before they got too dark) and Starfox Adventures (I was so frustrated that you didn't get to keep playing a Krystal).

I think Animorphs was intended as body horror first and foremost, so I don’t really blame the author much there. But there are SO MANY old cartoons where the writers/animators were clearly getting off to it. The Super Mario Super Show as as bad (and sometimes worse) than Totally Spies in that regard.

They all knew. Each generation had it's own "Hormone-inducing Female Archtype" too.

I specifically remember an old Looney Toons episode where Foghorn Leghorn got fed into a contraption built from a hay bailer that was a whole forced fem sequence that made me experience 5th emotion. XD

I don't know if I remember that scene, but yeah, those things will have an effect!

I'm sure the animators were planning more, and just scaled things back to keep it under budget!

They probably watched cartoons and TV shows as a kid too, they'd know when to look the other way.

I've always just been impressed how early, obliquely, and deeply those seeds were planted. I can remember being turned on by things before I even knew being turned on was a thing.

Also, I can remember scenes in, say, The Addams Family TV show that would probably have a hard time getting past the censors today.
