Well, I'm coming in on the final stretch with the typesetting/layout work for the "Probability Experiment" book project, which has been a long and involved journey of learning how not to do things :/ As such, I've finally started working on the other major aspect of the project, the illustrations. There were a pile of moments in the story that made me think I have to draw that, but due to layout considerations I had to cut it down a bit. Still a hell of a lot, though - 36 illustrations in all, plus the cover, 17 of which are full-page!
I'll be working on this for a while yet, I suspect, but I figured I might as well share the rough sketches as I complete them. So here's the very first - a poster for the propaganda (exploitation) film mentioned in the first chapter. If it's good enough for
nothere it's good enough for me ;)
(I tell you, you forget just how square men's suits were in the '40s until you go back and look. I drew a rough block outline for Mr. Suit there and then went back to draw the figure around it, and it was like, what am I doing? I could just trace right over the outline... If anything it might not be square enough.)
(You can tell he's impassioned by the sight before him because his hat is off.)
