(Zoom into the tongue to see the cities and planes)
- "Absurd? How is hosting microscopic civilizations ABSURD?!"
Admittedly, the jackal seemed to be bragging of her power over microscopic beings. As if one would be prideful of themselves by claiming inferior life forms. That was truly ridiculous; the average microscopic living being is a simple organism, or so they thought, when Nephthys blatantly defied them.
Her black lips parted, her chin rose to look at them, and her golden septum jiggled funnily. A potent puff came out of her large maw. It wasn't necessarily negative, but caught them off guard. The amount of heat contained inside that chamber was impressive, but not everything was her breath. Upon taking a whiff, it smelled strange. It had some carbon odor, while it also had this perfumed scent that mitigated the stench.
- "I quitted smoking months ago, don't look at me like that~"
Even then, smoking would cause a worse stench. It wasn't all that bad; simply light. Couldn't tell whether it was. They had forgotten about the point of the conversation as that overwhelming heat and scent had captured them. Nephthys kept her maw open with a sly smile. Her cryptic green eyes glaring at them startled them while her odd answer freaked them out. Their eyes looked into the maw, and at first glance they could not see anything. Actually, if it weren't due to their super-developed vision, they wouldn't have caught a plane flying under their nose. There were some gray dots across her tongue, lying there one by one. Their eyes were absorbed into those particular dots lying inside. They had very small towers each, and plenty of them. They were like territories colonizing a region, which was her maw.
Frankly, if it hadn't been all so wet and the cities mildly flooded in globs of saliva, all would've been better to distinguish! What was more, above the cities some thick steam rose in the form of clouds. That wouldn't have been real clouds, obviously, so they assumed it was her own breath gathering above those civilizations.
Soon after, she stepped back, closing her maw with an honest smirk to show off. Their cheeks turned red from the embarrassment of staring at everything for so much time, but it was simply fascinating. Never seen anything like that.
- "Are those real...?"
- "Of course they are. They pay me real well for hosting them. But it's not an easy job. I mind my diet and I often need to perfume my maw so it doesn't smell horrible, and these are the basics!"
Awestruck by the memories of the sight they had to behold, they found it hard to accept so many creatures lived in such a place. Who would pay for that anyway?! They questioned themselves angrily. Their face seemed rather upset.
- "Oh, are you now jealous of them?~"
Their ears perked up, his tone and pose shifting into a defensive one.
- "A-are you stupid? I'd NEVER live in such a nasty place..."
They looked away from her. Their cheeks flaring bright red and hiding their actual thoughts about such an offer. It was warm, seemed safe even though it was extremely humid.
Nephthys suddenly held their hands, looking at them rather caringly.
- "It's safer than you think. How about I call my manager and we arrange you a nice free room in an apartment block?~"
