Ooh, that’s a fun idea. A dark palace protected by magic wards that can only be removed by being absorbed, their mystic energies bloating people to immense sizes. Each party that attempts to storm the palace passes by countless immobile blobs, the remains of past parties who became glued to the spot to allow these new contenders that much more progress. A fate they too will share when they inevitably hit the next ward.
