What do you get when you take a rabbit and give it hot peppers?
A Flaming Rabbit of course!
Just getting my feet wet so to speak so I only have a couple test bottles so far but in the last few months I have pretty much quadrupled the amount of pepper plants I'm growing.
I have a variety from a no heat sweet pepper to the mother of them all, the Carolina reaper.
Not sure how much updating I'll be doing here on FA but you can find updates on the pepper plants and sauces I have in the works on my Facebook page.

everything is going good, super busy with work and all so I havent really been doing much of anything to post or talk about.
the only thing notable right now is that I've been growing peppers, some would say in excess, but if I want to sell any sauce I'll need a whole lot more of them :p
The name was apparent after I realized that, obviously, my fursona is a rabbit, and hot peppers make it feel like your on fire, so, flaming rabbit lol
my first test batch was the "Bunny Bite" and got a whole whopping 5 bottles out of it, used damn near every ripe pepper I had too.
Sadly, even if I can manage to make it for even just 1 day to MegaPlex I wont have any Bunny Bite sauce yet, one of the types of pepper plants is taking a long time to grow more.
I will however have a sweet hot sauce ready, if it doesn't taste horrible lol. making a batch with apricots being fermented with it.
your always welcome to stalk my Facebook page
*hugs

now the apricots sound good. I used to grow habaneros and Jamaican bird peppers. I can't eat much of anything hot anymore.
I am so happy you are happy with your work, and I am so look forward to seeing you at the con...
Oh... and I never did facebook so can't get on it at all... sorry on that...

Unfortunately the biggest hurdle is the lack of pepper plants right now and they do take a while to nurture and harvest. And yes, sadly small batch sauces like Dark Bunny Sauces and my own do tend to cost more simply because we lack the ability to buy our materials by the 10's of thousands to allow us to sell for a cheap price. That being said, this is not final as I'm still looking at suppliers still, I'm probably going to be looking at around $10 per bottle plus shipping.
Nope...... well......not yet anyway, too many peppers to grow before I hit that point lol.
I never realized how many peppers it took to make a bottle let alone several.
And what is it with bunnies and hot sauce? Don't know if I'll ever understand that, every bunny I know likes it.

When I started, it was just a few peppers, but now I need to source my ingredients - except for Bunny's Gardens, though the last 2 years my little garden hasn't produced much. This year looks better so long as the squirrels keep away from the super hots.
But honestly, kudos on going the fermentation route. I don't have the room to do that, so once your stuff is available, I will definitely be looking forward to trying them out :)
As for bunnies and hot sauces... no clue, but I think we have the hold on the market

Very nice!
Wishing you great success in this endeavor!
Re: the number of peppers - - Apparently Tugrik has been having MONSTER success raising all sorts of peppers hydroponically! Check his past Twitter posts for a glimpse into his setup, and the harvests he's gotten. He's been freeze drying, roasting, bagging, and distributing to neighbors along with creating all sorts of sauces with his.
He might be willing to pass on some tips in that area.

I had briefly looked into hydroponics and quickly came to the conclusion that it was simply too expensive for my budget. I have been buying a few pots and a couple bags of dirt every paycheck for several months now.
the only hurdle really is getting viable seeds and getting them to germinate successfully, that and Florida has lots and lots and lots and lots of bugs that simply love the way pepper leaves taste.

I'm doing good! I hope everything is going good with you as well!
and good heat level as in, Tobasco level? or Carolina Reaper level?
I know those are a bit extreme in the gap between them but I have peppers about the same level pepper as a tobasco pepper and I have Carolina Reapers. and I have multiple peppers growing that are in between those so I could make a wide range heat levels.
And as far as Megaplex, I might do a one day pass this year or I may just go hang out with a couple fiends one evening at the hotel bar/pool area. I had been vending with a friend in the dealers den for 7 years but since the convention essentially kicked out the person that was running it and replaced him this was the first year that my friend was denied a vendor table, sure I could go for the hell of it anyway but again, I might go for 1 day.

I'm definitely going to fire it up, I have multiple habanero peppers between 250,000 and 400,000 schu germinating but I have 3 hot hot peppers getting ready to flower, scotch bonnet at about 350,000schu, Devils tongue at about 400,000schu and trinidad vipers at or around 350,000 - 500,000 schu. and thats not including the 4 Carolina Reaper plants that I have that are blooming right now.
I will most definitely be bringing the heat, i'll hopefully have some of those in the not too distant future.
I am most definitely thanking DarkBunny, they have some great looking sauces that I will need to try out some time but ironically enough, I'm a lightweight as well, for someone making hot sauces you'd think I wouldn't be lmao
