Gladiator angel James LightningSword was surveying a wasteland, hoping to find sparring partners. Suddenly he heard a little girl's voice crying.
"Hello?" He called, shifting his blue-white wings.
"Please mister..." the voice came.
James gasped in horror. It was a girl of about 7 with a broken leg. Carefully he picked her up and she whimpered in agony.
"Lucifer taught me how to do this...oh please work, I'm no battle healer...please work." James closed his eyes and his hands glowed white then gold. The girl relaxed and her tears ceased as her bones mended from his angelic healing. James looked, nervous if he'd pulled it off. He gasped a smile when he saw: she was okay!
"Thanks mister. Are you a real angel?" The girl asked him. James had always had a soft spot for children. He chuckled and tickled her with his wing and she giggled.
"Could a fake angel do that? I'm James, and this is my friend Bounder." James told her, as his bunny friend hopped onto the girl's chest.
"I'm Natalie, and I'm 8. I was playing and I fell from that cliff. Are you magic?"
"I'm not sure how much I can really do, to be honest. How about..." James chuckled and manifested her a doll, she gasped and cuddled it, yawning.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, little one. How about a quick lullaby?"
Natalie was already asleep.
James started to sing softly to her in Latin.
"Somnia venire verum. Facere a vis. Vos sunt pulchra. Ego custodire vos."
James smiled at Bounder and Natalie sleeping in his brawny arms. The girl's mother spied them and came running; she had spied her daughter in an angel's arms and feared her dead.
"Please, don't take her!"
"Oh, please don't worry miss! I'm a lesser angel, I just healed her, she's gonna be fine. She's a sweet little girl." James carefully handed the child to her mom, towering over them all with his 6 foot 6 build.
"Oh thank God! Thank you!"
"You're welcome. Oh, here you are." James manifested as much food for the family as he could muster and exhaled, a bit exhausted: he was normally a fighter, not a magic crafter. He went to take off and hesitated, shy.
"Um...miss? Would it be OK with you, if she wants to, if Natalie and I were friends? I mean I'd...I.." He stuttered and blushed, feeling his hair. The mother laughed and smiled kindly.
"Beautiful angel, you saved my child. I owe you at least that much. Come back soon."
"Oh...hey, thank you! I'm James, James LightningSword, gladiator."
"I sell bread at those games. What class are you?"
"A tanker, ma'am." James said with a bow, his dual swords on his back glinting.
"Very well. Return here in 2 days, and you can visit Natalie. Farewell, angel fighter."
James waved and with his usual snarl of fervor, he pushed off with his huge wingspan and was airborne with a leap, flying over Natalie's mother who watched him fly away.
