Rats have a unique history in my world, inspired by dwarfs of all things; they build huge, glorious empires that crumble down and then they lose their lands, living in exile until they reclaim their long lost home from dragons (or mice in my case). Sprinkle a bit of comradery, loyalty and bravery and you have it. Since I speak a little bit of German, I made them speak different dialects of German—North German for brown rats (Rattus norvegicus), and Austrian German for black rats (Rattus rattus).
(OBSOLETE! I RETCONNED THE LORE!)
This was drawn when I was fond of tail weapons thanks to one specific rat (yes-yes), and wanted to make it a little more realistic. However, I realised those were terrible and impractical weapons, and thus, they have been removed from the lore outside a few myths and legends. Also, this was my first time drawing rodents, so please excuse my terrible skills.
Enjoy!
