General: "Don't go burning that R-wing fox!"
Fox: "-sniff-...um...yeah...ok General..."
General: "Is...is something wrong, Fox?"
Fox: "-Snort- Y-yeah...e-everything's...fu-fu-fu-fine...."
General: "You...you wrecked the R-wing...didn't you?"
Fox: "OH GAWHAWHOD WHYYYYYYYY!? -GAAAAAAASP- SHE JUST GOT HER DUAL LASERS FULLY CHAAAAARGED!"
General: ".....You're a sad man fox...a sad, sad man..."

in all seriousness this is an awesome image that makes one ponder the smoke rising in the distance and how it is connected to Fox's current state, but as for the lols, I think it had to be Peppy, he was the only competent one on the team, wouldn't you breakdown if the epic badass pilot of your team just got shot down? But, again, awesome pic.
If you dislike the response you're getting, then please, allow me to give my take on the matter. The problem here may be the lack of context. This shot would go great in a comic. Out-of-context, it's Fox McCloud in an impassioned position facing a fresh wreckage of something that clearly meant a lot to him...but it's Fox McCloud. He's the star of multiple internet memes, not to mention a sexualized figure among furries. If it were just a generic fox fur, the reaction would be far different, I assure you. You did a great job, and there is a real emotion to the picture. But like I said, it looks like it should be in a comic. As a standalone piece, you get...well. *gestures to the majority of the other comments on the page*
Krystal: I'm sorry Fox. Hollywood Video is now out of business.
Fox: DID YOU HAVE TO NUKE IT?! ;_______________________;
Krystal: When your only video in stock is Christmas with the Kranks... yeah. :/ Sorry, chum. Also, Slippy's drunk again. Better report in before he goes nuts.
Fox: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Aw... Poor Fox... <= / *pats his back* Aw come on... You can always get a new Arwing you know...?
On a serious note, you really did a nice job on the background, it's simple but effective. The way you did Fox looks really great too, nice job on the expression, I think you really captured it perfectly. Awesome job!

I'm a little late to the comment party here, but this picture is awesome. And I WON’T make some silly comment about the smoke being from burnt toast or the like. Instead, I felt compelled to write this. Notice I don't refer to the pilot as he or she; this is intentional, so that anyone could be the pilot.
Fox: "Are you sure you're ready for this? I mean, I'll be right here on the comm link if you have any problems but, if anything goes really wr--"
His love places a finger over the fox's muzzle and smiles gently. "I was born ready for this, hon. Thank you for being so patient with me."
Fox smiles and kisses that finger, then wraps his arms around his mate and kisses their ear. "No need to thank me. I should be the one thanking you for coming into my life and making it so much better."
His mate ear-blushes, then squirms out of the hug and licks Fox's nose. "See you when I get back." They bound into the Arwing, go through all the flight pre-checks one last time, then make ready to take off.
Fox moves off a safe distance and watches, tail a little tucked but ears perked forward, feeling a mixture of nervousness, excitement and worry for his love.
The Arwing takes off and the pilot goes through the standard maneuvers the two of them did together on so many previous occasions. The vessel performs perfectly and the flight is flawless. Until...
"Fox, I've got a low fuel light blinking at me. Didn't we fill up after the last flight?"
Fox blinks in alarm and grips his comm unit. "Yeah we did. Maybe its just a glitch. Still, you better start heading back."
"One step ahead of ya. Just finished a 180 and-- oh shit. Everything just went dark. I don't have any power at all except for the emergency backup."
Fox's eyes go wide and he takes a few steps in the direction the arwing will be coming from. "What?! Okay, try restarting like you would on the ground, just keep ca--"
"Fox, I'm in free fall! None of the controls are re-" static. "-n't know what to do! Even the pilot eject sys--" static.
Fox grips his comm unit tightly and calls out to his mate. "I can see you! If you can just keep the nose up you can make a crash landing. Just a little longer! Come on..."
Static. "--so scared. Fox!" Static.
...And then the scene in the picture.
