Pinnacles

The last picture I uploaded ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4755688 ) was taken up at Durien, about two hours North of Perth. The geology is really interesting up there; from Lancelin up to Shark Bay, it used to be an inland sea and completely underwater, sort of a large bay that reached about sixty kilometres inland. It's left a load of fine sand (Lancelin actually has a series of massive shifting dunes, similar to the Sahara a little way out of town). The sand around this area has been slowly blown away over many years and leaves these limestone spires exposed, hence the name 'The Pinnacles'. The shot I took before was actually in one of these spires that had been eroded away to form that little pool of sand, and it rained the night before, making it damp. I think it's pretty amazing that, on the lee side of the rock, enough sand, water and a seed landed there; viable for the plant to grow.
Although the area has a pretty large flux of tourists, it's still a relatively eerie place to be, especially at dawn or dusk, and you stray far enough to escape the buses and tourists,
