ECGX2022 - Brotherhood of Nod Officer Cosplay
I've been waiting three years to do this!
In 2019, after NJ Gamers Con, I started piecing together an idea for a cosplay, right around the time I started getting more involved with Armed Assault III and working on my mod based on Command & Conquer. It all helped me present this to the world on Halloween 2019! I give you, an officer of the Brotherhood of Nod!
Command & Conquer is a real-time strategy game series created by Westwood Studios in 1995. Its success was so revolutionary, it put the "RTS" genre on the videogame map and made Westwood Studios a household name. Since then, its franchise has incorporated a multitude of games, enlisted a number of actors from James Earl Jones to Michael Biehn (Reese from Terminator) to Billy Dee Williams (Lando from Star Wars), Michael Ironside (Jester from Top Gun and the voice of Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell), Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show), and the ladies from Battlestar Galactica. Westwood Studios went on to also have a hand in developing The Lion King for the Sega Genesis, as well as early Battletech games like The Crescent Hawks' Inception and Crescent Hawks' Revenge.
In 2002, Electronic Arts liquidated Westwood Studios, forcing them to remake themselves as Petroglyph Games. Despite this, the community is as strong as ever, with players still playing, mod teams still developing mods, and even the master musician and lead composer Frank Klepacki making awesome music and even doing concerts such as MagFest.
The most recent addition to Command & Conquer is a remastered version or the original 1995 game, sold on Steam, using completely re-recorded audio clips of the EVA computer system.
The cosplay consists of a standard U.S. Army urban camouflage uniform with black beret and gloves, Matterhorn boots that have seen alot of action, and most notably, the patch of the Brotherhood of Nod and pins on the beret and collar. These pins are the original Westwood Studios pins that were sold in 1998 on the Westwood store for the launch of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. They remained in their jewel cases, untouched, until October 2019!
...Yes, I am a fan. Yes, it is my favorite game. And I have been a fan of this all my life.
One vision! One purpose!
This was part of my initial promotion of the convention on Twitter!
