Not always Zergs really infest and mutate living beings they encounter. Floral Zergs became capable of telepathically control a bugs to various decrees, showing off a superpower known as zookinesis.

At least one centipede was infested and/or altered by Floral Zergs to the point those venomous animals became an ultimate combat transport unit among the exotic Zerg Broods, being literally like a flying running trains hitting all on their way while bringing smaller units to the chosen spot, should it be island, rooftop of extremely high building or even a space platform.
