Hi everyone! So I'm twenty three weeks and two days into my surrogacy today with twins. So this week I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden my belly was jiggling in almost a pattern and I realized that one of the pups had the hiccups! It was a such a cute moment and I didn't have my phone handy to film it, major bummer. I'm not sure if this is the first time its happened or I've just not been paying attention when I feel movement. Oh yeah lets talk about that... they move constantly all the time, they must have some kind of tag in system where one is resting and the other is kicking me throughout the day, then in the evening when I'm trying to sleep they tucker themselves out with some uterine gymnastics before finally letting me go to sleep.
Last week was such a crazy week for me, but one thing that I'm so thankful for is how amazing my doctor is. I had a few vivid dreams last week about delivery so we spent most of our Q&A time talking about labor and delivery options. I asked her about induction because I want to try to avoid an induction so I asked what she thinks about that and what her recommendations are. I want minimal medical intervention and a pitocin drip is the LAST thing I want because all the moms I've spoken to said pitocin hits hard, fast and isn't a fun time, I want my body and these pups to come at their own pace if possible. The doctor agreed and said that alot of doctors will tell you with twins that you need to be induced at 38 weeks, but if they're both healthy and I reach thirty eight weeks without complications that there's no reason I can't go until your due date until we can induce. Another concern of mine was if one of them is breech and if I'd still be able to deliver vaginally. She said there's no problem with me trying for a vaginal birth if one of the pups is breech as long as the first one delivered is head-down since that'd prevent a log jam sortta situation in there, OUCH. Ideally they're both head down of course, but she'll check at every appointment up until my labor. During the ultrasound both of the pups were still head down which is really good.
So belly this week... I stick just like straight out now and it's all baby. I'm measuring at just a bit over 40 inches and it feels really tight in the front, especially around my navel. I'm not measuring that much bigger around, but it's fuller up on the top like my womb grew a little bit outwards and three times as much upwards. Someone asked me last week about weight gain, when they weighed me at the doctor's office I've gained 16pounds and I'm 23 weeks so I think that's good? It might be a little bit under what you're supposed to weigh, but I wasn't a big girl to begin with and the doctor didn't say anything so I'm assuming it's okay. So I'm 146 pounds now from my 130 pre-pregnancy. Wow next week is number 24 which means I'll be 6 months! So crazy how fast this pregnancy has flown by~
