Here's a quick, yet more realism-type of painting I whipped up this week to mark the discovery of Titanic in 1985. It was a fun and new challenge I'm pleased with
Down beneath the waves, where darkness is eternal, we see what we have done with our pride and our egos in our efforts to defy nature. The gods of the sea laughed at us as they drew their daggers, piercing deep the heart of our innocence... and sending her to the cemetery of the sea. Stripped of the beauty she once wore in her youth, she is a shadow of her former self, afloat on the sea of the dead.

I once puzzled over why the Titanic held such a powerful hold on the imagination among the countless other lost ships in history. Then my mother told me why: The titanic was that era's 9/11. A nation's, a world's ego shattered by one event.
And it's true
For all our power and pride, all we've built is still at the mercy of water, wind, and trembling earth.

One thing to always remember is just how strong the Titanic really was all the way to the end, how long the ship held on and resisted fate to the very end. It is absolutely incredible that in 1912 a ship was built that could resist the consuming darkness for nearly three hours. A legendary work of art even if the Titanic could not complete its maiden voyage.Even the remains have resisted the crushing dark for so long, decades of defiance even amidst a destiny denied.
And her survivors, the horror of hearing the cries fade out during such a dark night, under a starry sky, surrounded by freezing water. Such a haunting moment just to think about.
110 years remembered.
